Helen is Transform’s strategic lead for English. She has honed her years of subject leadership in English and her senior leadership experience to carve out a specialism in Reading and Writing that shapes policy and practice across a whole MAT. She has 5 years experience as an Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headship and T&L Leadership experience to support her role as Associate Headteacher for Transform. She has taught years 1, 4 and 6, been a SENDCO and co-authored a book on research based Teaching and Learning in her 12 years as a teacher.
Helen has been able to combine her extensive classroom practice, research and leadership experience to bring a unique approach to planning and shaping the teaching of reading and writing in schools.
Her passion for developing leaders to bring out the very best in themselves and the children they teach has produced some innovative and outstanding resources giving Transform schools a leading edge in their teaching of English.
Helen’s ability to view the bigger picture of the education landscape enables her to create multi-layered CPD that brings consistency and excellence in the teaching of reading and writing. She is an experienced NQT Mentor, has led research groups and successfully delivered City-wide programmes in Reading.
